This guacamole with sour cream is a delicious spin-off from the original classic. Grab some tortilla chips and enjoy!
If you’re like me, you agree that there’s nothing like a good dip to go with some crunchy tortilla chips. There’s something so addictive about the combination of crunchiness and creaminess. “Classic” guacamole is usually a very simple recipe with only a few ingredients. This guacamole with sour cream actually has a couple of extra ingredients compared to the classic.
Basic guacamole is usually just made from avocados, salt, lime juice, and maybe cilantro. However, there are definitely a lot of variations on that basic recipe. This recipe for avocado cream cheese dip includes most of the basic ingredients plus cream cheese and sour cream. And cilantro haters, rejoice. There isn’t a trace of cilantro in this recipe 😉. I can’t stand the stuff.
I think this avocado dip for nachos is slightly different from regular guacamole because the cream cheese gives it a creamier texture and the sour cream adds a little tanginess to the dip. All you need to do is grab a bag of tortilla chips and go!
This post is all about how to make guacamole with sour cream.
Ingredients for Guacamole with Sour Cream
- Avocados- Make sure the avocados are at that perfect ripeness that is so elusive 😅. Seriously, though, patience is key here. Don’t get too anxious and cut “almost ripe” avocados. I’ve tried to make guacamole with those before, and it never fails to be a disaster 😅.
- Cream cheese- Room temperature cream cheese is important. If the cream cheese is still cold, you’ll have a lumpy avocado dip for chips.
- Sour cream- I like the tang that this adds to the dip.
- Lime juice- If you don’t add enough lime juice to your guacamole with lime, it will be sad. Don’t make your guacamole sad. It’s rude to make your food sad 😀.
- Spices- This recipe has cumin, chili flakes, and salt.
